Thank you for electing me four years ago and I am humbly asking you to vote for me again. I have lived in Huntington Beach for over 50 years. I raised my three children here and taught in the HBCSD for 39 years. I am very familiar with our community.
Many years ago, while working on my administrative credential and doing an internship in the district, I realized my true love was being in the classroom. It is in the classroom where differences are made. There is nothing more rewarding than to see students succeed and to be proud of their own accomplishments. These are some of mine:
Received PTSA Teacher of the Year as Outstanding Teacher at both Gisler and Sowers.
Acted as PTSA laison at Sowers Middle School
Started PALS-Peer Assistance Leadership program at Sowers
Coordinator for the science department writing team for Distinguished School and National Blue Ribbon Schools
7th grade Sunday School teacher at Saints Simon and Jude
AYSO soccer team mom
Transported instruments as part of the Band Booster Club at Edison
Currently on the California School Board Assoc.
Member of the American Legion-Auxiliary Post 291
Member of the Altar Guild at St. James the Great Episcopal Church
Member of three quilt guilds where I work with our philanthropy groups
Running for re-election on the HBCSD board, I have no hidden agendas. I am the parent that ran next to you at the HB half marathon, sat next to you at football and soccer games. I shared donuts with you at church while our children were playing together and carpooled with you to Junior Guards. I listened when you talked. I am part of the community we live in and I know our students needs. I am you.
